Indoor swim lessons are on their way!
As the warm weather fades away and we change out our summer clothes for sweatshirts and long pants, we at Sunshine Swim Center prepare for indoor swim lessons.
We love that we have the flexibility to be able to have an open-air swimming pool during the Spring, Summer and Fall and then transform into a indoor swimming facility for our winter swim lessons.
It takes a village to do this but it is something that is special to us. Not only do kids and parents love the warmth and protection of the dome, so do our swim instructors.
The Sunshine Dome
as we lovingly call it, weighs over 1000 pounds and takes a crew of 15-18 pairs of helping hands and 4 days to raise.
When it is all finished it encloses the entire pool and offers inside seating for our families.
The canopy reaches 25 feet high with plenty of room for movement around the pool.
The most important benefits of the dome are…
maintaining the 87 degree water temperature; perfect for active swimmers in the pool AND keeping out the chilly breeze.
On November 10th we will be holding a Free Swim Event on the campus of Sunshine Swim Center and the Elk Grove Kids Camp from 4:30 – 6:30pm.
It is open to the public. Families can take a tour of the Elk Grove Kids Camp facility, participate in a cool art project and take a tour and/or swim under the Sunshine Dome during our special event.
