Elk Grove Kids Camp, at Sunshine Swim Center, was founded with a simple mission: to provide a safe and fun environment for children in Elk Grove to learn, grow, and make new friends. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joys of childhood, and we’re committed to creating a camp experience that is both enriching and enjoyable. But the underlying community needs are what solidified our mission.
Our Story
The idea for Elk Grove Kids Camp came from our own experiences as parents. Elk Grove Unified School District currently uses 3 scheduling formats throughout the district; Traditional, Modified Traditional and Year Round Schools. While our children were in school, there was no need for childcare services. We were able to adjust our work schedules to fit the hours school was in session. BUT… it posed a challenge when the kids were not in school for weeks at a time. Our employers were not able to accommodate the multi-week “OFF TRACK” schedule. We needed a solution for occasional childcare without the year round commitment. Also looking for a program that wasn’t just a childcare but a CAMP for our children that would offer them more enriching activities. A camp that would spark their imaginations, challenge them to try new things, and help them develop important life skills.
Quickly we realized that there was a need for a high-quality camp in the Elk Grove community. There were limited options offering traditional activities like swimming and sports, but there weren’t many camps that focused on creativity, exploration, and social-emotional learning.
That’s why we decided to start Elk Grove Kids Camp. We wanted to create a camp that would be different, a camp that would truly meet the needs of children and families in our community.
Our Philosophy
At Elk Grove Kids Camp, we believe that every child is unique and special. We’re committed to providing a camp experience that is tailored to the individual needs of each child. We offer a variety of programs and activities that cater to different interests and learning styles.
We also believe that play is an essential part of childhood. Play allows children to explore their world, learn new things, and develop important life skills. That’s why we incorporate play into everything we do at camp.
Our Programs
Elk Grove Kids Camp offers a variety of programs for children of all ages. We have summer camps and school break camps, Our programs are designed to be fun, educational, and engaging.
